Seattle Trip – Microsoft Interview Recap
by Pyrodogg on Nov.18, 2008, under Reviews, Trips
#1) No excuses
#2) Recap
I heard back from from Kelsey, my recruiter. She informed me that Microsoft would not be pursuing an offer. She suggested applying again at a later date to see if it would work better with a different part of the company. I tried asking for some feedback from the interview so I could apply it to my other ones, but she wasn’t able to give me anything. Oh well, I’ve got a number of other prospects, here is the overview of my trip.
My plane left at 9am on Thursday, I didn’t have a ride so I was up at 5 to get ready and head out on public transportation to get to the airport. It was fairly warm and rainy that morning and I figured it would probably be about the same when I landed in Seattle. The flight wasn’t too bad, a nice 3.5 hr flight that turnes out to only be 1.5 hr because of traveling through time zones. There wasn’t too much to see throughout the flight because of the cloud cover. I did occasionally see some impressive clouds. I slept through about the second half of the flight after I rand out of things to read (I need to remember book next time). As we approached Seattle we dropped below the cloud cover and I could make out Lake Washington and Mercer Island was we came in for landing.

In all honesty I’m still to nervous and excited to actually type this one out. I think everythign went fantastically and I’m expecting to hear back from my recruiting contact within a week. One way or another I’ll probably be able to type this one out after that.
Ready to Rock!

Tomorrow morning I’m flying out to Seattle to interview with Microsoft! I’m very excited, the only thing that seems daunting is the prospect of an entire day interviewing, no single one really has me worried though. I should have the evenings and some time on Saturday to see the city and as long as I can manage it I should have my XTi with me as well to take photos.
I also purchased a small video camera recently, the DXG-569V, so that I can capture more of my travels. I’m still working on putting together decent narratives, being in front of a camera, and my editing skills, but hopefully I’ll have videos somewhere on-line by tomorrow evening. I’ll keep this updated with all the exciting things that happen in Seattle!
Wish me luck!
Rocking Interviews
by Pyrodogg on Oct.13, 2008, under Uncategorized
I rocked three more Interviews on campus today. I’m cooler, calmer and more focused at each and every one of them also. I’m much better able to express myself and my many accomplishments than I was a month ago. They’re so exciting I can’t wait to tackle the next one on Friday.
IT Career Fair
by Pyrodogg on Oct.02, 2008, under Uncategorized
Tuesday and Wednesday were busy days for me. I attended the UofM Institute of Technology Career Fair (sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers – SWE and HKN) and talked to about 20 recruiters from different companies. I’ve also already received a few interview offers, so I’m definitely excited for the coming weeks.
I’m also rather busy with class work right now so my side projects have definitely slowed to halt, but I did purchase a Danger Shield from the Makershed store to solder together and play around with in the coming months, I plan to use the sliders for light control or something similar in my apartment bedroom.
